Charged With Raping Child Twice In Abandoned House, Bail Granted -KERN COLLEY has been placed on $100,000 bail on two charges of rape of a teenager.

Colley, 26 of Princes Town was remanded into custody last Friday on the charges that that in 2018 at an abandoned building in Princes Town, he sexually penetrated a 16-year-old. It was also alleged that on April 2 this year, he committed the act, again at the same building.

The charges were laid by constable St John of the Child Protection Unit after Colley was arrested on Wednesday by officers of the Princes Town criminal investigation department.

He was denied bail last week by Rio Claro senior magistrate Rae Roopchand for a tracing of his criminal record to be produced.

At his reappearance before the court on Monday, police prosecutor Sgt Shazeed Mohammed said that while Colley had no convictions, he had pending matters. Mohammed objected to him being placed on bail, citing that while on bail, he allegedly committed these two offences.

Roopchand however placed Colley on $100,000 bail to cover the both charges.

He was ordered to return to court on June 3.
