T&T: Canadian Killed Crossing Road

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – A Canadian national has died following a road traffic accident in Tobago on Friday night.

Errol Wilson, 71, was reportedly struck by an oncoming vehicle while attempting to cross the roadway in the Prospect area, near Pizza Boys, around 7 p.m.

According to reports, Wilson was crossing the roadway near a blind spot when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a resident of Bon Accord.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, but despite efforts to save him, Wilson died at the scene.

Wilson had recently settled in Tobago with his wife. The couple had been staying in a rented apartment along Shirvan Road after getting married in Tobago last month.

Wilson’s wife, Ingrid Lewis, was in Trinidad at the time of her husband’s tragic death. Before she was made aware of his death, she tried contacting him but calls to his mobile phone went unanswered.

She later called a neighbour who informed her of his death.

The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation as police work to determine exactly what led to the collision.

Investigations are being coordinated by officers attached to the Shirvan Road Police Station.
