Trinidad: ‘Freak Accident’ Claims 73-Year-Old

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – A 73-YEAR-OLD man who was at his home doing renovation work was killed in what was described by police as a “freak accident”.

The dead man is Cyril Durham of Angelina Terrace, Morvant.

According to police reports, around 10 a.m., on Thursday, the victim was at his home doing renovation works using a grinder. Some time later, relatives went to check on him and found him on the ground in a pool of blood.

There was a wound to his right leg and the grinder was said to have been covered in blood.

The Emergency Health Services were notified and the injured man was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police were told by medical personnel that the victim suffered a cut to his femoral artery and due to the extent of the injury it was possible that he may have bled out in a matter of minutes.

A post mortem has however been ordered to confirm this.
