Ministry Welcomes Educational Opportunities With UWI

PR – More educational opportunities are being  made available for the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. The University of West Indies  (UWI) Open Campus Grenada is collaborating with the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique  and Local Government to offer certificate and degree programs to residents on the islands. 

UWI Programme Officer, Kisha Commissiong-Branch, met with Permanent Secretary Javan  Williams to discuss the programmes. They were joined, via Zoom, by the Head of the UWI Open  Campus, Dr. Nicole Phillip-Dowe. 

PS Williams said the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government,  under the leadership of Minister Hon. Tevin Andrews, is very much committed to ensuring citizens  have access to more educational opportunities, which allow for positive progress for the islands. 

Discussions focused on training and certification in areas unique to the people of Carriacou and  Petite Martinique, such as boat building and cultural enhancement.
