Johnny Depp’s Firebrand Attorney Refuses To Comment When Asked If She Is Dating The Hollywood Actor As She Emerges As The Real Star Of The $100m Amber Heard Trial

(DAILY MAIL UK) – Johnny Depp’s attorney giggled when asked if she’s dating the actor as fans fuel rumors of a budding romance between the pair during his $100 million defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Camille Vasquez, 37, has won a massive online following, with supporters sharing videos of the glamorous defense lawyer ‘grilling’ Heard.

Interest in Vasquez soared after she cross-examined Heard on Monday and Tuesday.

As she walked out of the Fairfax County Circuit Courthouse on Tuesday afternoon, a TMZ reporter asked the brunette: ‘The people want to know, are you dating Johnny Depp? It’s all over the internet. Can you set the record straight, yes or no?’

The California litigator declined to answer as she laughed, brushed her hair aside and waved to the throngs of fans gathered outside.

Depp’s fan are showering praise on the lawyer for her work defending the Oscar-nominated actor, tweeting out pictures of themselves wearing ‘I heart Camille Vasquez’ T-shirts and memes portraying her as the Nordic god of thunder and Marvel character Thor.

They’re even making TikToks set to romantic pop songs of the pair exchanging glances, holding hands and talking closely.

The two were all smiles as they entered the Fairfax County Circuit Courthouse on Wednesday, a day after they were snapped hugging in a photo that was widely shared on social media.

Camille Vasquez, 37, was born in July 1984 to parents Leonel and Marilia Vasquez, who are of Colombian descent.

They live in a $1 million home in Buena Park, according to public records.

Her father once owned a UPS Store in Anaheim. The location has been a FedEx store for the past 10 years, an employee told

Vasquez graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in arts, communications and political science in 2006, Newsweek reports.

The fluent Spanish speaker went to Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles from 2007 to 2010 and worked at one law firm before joining her current practice, Brown Rudnick LLP, as an associate.

She focuses on ‘plaintiff-side defamation suits, with additional experience litigating contract disputes, business-related torts, and employment-related claims,’ according to her bio on the law firm’s website. She’s also listed as having ‘extensive experience handling parallel reputation management and crisis communications issues arising from these engagements.’

She does not have any public social media profiles.

Interactions between Vasquez and Heard became tense during the cross-examination portion of the trial earlier this week, gaining the tough lawyer a devoted online following.

At one point, Vasquez got Heard, 36, to admit she didn’t donate her full $7 million divorce settlement to charity despite previously claiming to have done so.

The attorney squeezed in some sharp put-downs as part of her line of questioning.

‘Mr. Depp got you that role in Aquaman didn’t he?’ she asked on Tuesday after the court previously heard audio of Depp mocking the film in a fight.

Vasquez also accused the actress of editing a photo showing her allegedly injured face.

She asked Heard: ‘You just edited these photographs?’

Heard said: ‘Never’.

Vasquez asked if Heard ‘enhanced the saturation to make your face look more red?’

Heard said: ‘That’s incorrect, I didn’t touch it’.

She claimed that Depp is just another one of Heard’s many victims and accused her of hitting her ex-girlfriend, citing an article reporting on her 2009 arrest at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

‘You committed violence against Miss Van Reed during you relationship didn’t you?’ Vasquez asked. ‘And it was covered in the press, isn’t that true?

‘So Mr. Depp isn’t the only domestic partner you’ve assaulted, isn’t he Ms. Heard?’

The exchanges sometimes devolved into angry back-and-forths.

‘Okay, Miss Heard. I got the answer. Thank you. You disagree,’ Vasquez insisted as Heard tried to explain that a photo showing Depp with a black eye was ‘photoshopped.’

Vasquez’s questions put the actress on the defensive, as she seeks to prove that her ex-husband coordinated a smear campaign against her in retaliation for a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she described herself as a survivor of domestic abuse.

Depp, 58, first sued Heard for $50 million, claiming he was axed from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise amid speculation he was the abuser. He was allowed to sue in Virginia because the Post’s online editions are published through servers located in Fairfax County.

Heard responded by countersuing for $100 million, claiming Depp smeared her and branded her a liar, setting the stage for the ongoing trial.

On Tuesday, Vasquez asked Heard if it was true that Depp got her the co-starring role in Aquaman.

Heard said: ‘Excuse me? No Miss Vasquez I got that role by auditioning.’

Vasquez asked: ‘You were the jealous one in this relationship?’

Heard said: ‘Johnny’s always been very jealous when I worked.’

Depp’s fans have taken to sticking up for the attorney along with their favorite actor.

‘In a world of Amber Heards, be a Camille Vasquez,’ one person tweeted.

One of Vasquez’s ‘gotcha’ moments was when Heard claimed she’d been beaten so badly that Depp had broken her nose. The lawyer brought up footage of her on The Late Late Show with James Corden the very next day which did not show a single injury. Vasquez also showed paparazzi shots taken the day after Heard alleged she’d been severely attacked leaving her with cuts, bruises and/or a broken nose. Each time, there were no visible injuries

‘I am still a Johnny Depp fan, but I am ALSO now a die-hard Camille Vasquez fan,’ said one fan.

One man posted a photo of himself wearing an ‘I heart Camille Vasquez’ T-shirt.

Memes praising the lawyer as a heroic or angelic figure have also appeared.

In one, her face is superimposed on the body of Marvel comic character Thor, who is based on the Nordic god of thunder and lightning.

Legal experts note that Depp’s huge fandom, accumulated over a decades-long career including three Oscar nominations, has benefitted him and his lawyer.

‘Johnny Depp is winning on social media—so his lawyer is doing the same,’ Juda Engelmayer, a crisis coordinator who represented convicted serial sexual harasser Harvey Weinstein, told The DailyBeast.

‘Historically, women who have defended men accused of sex crimes are met with online hate. But Camille Vasquez seems to have benefited from Johnny’s praise.’

On TikTok, videos with the hashtag #CamilleVasquez have been viewed 454 million times.

‘At the end of the day, it has to do with the affability,’ Engelmayer said. ‘People always want to love Johnny Depp. He has been around for 35 years. If he is supporting someone, these people want to support him.’

Videos of Vasquez sitting close to Depp in trial, holding his hand while talking to him, and fetching him drinks have gotten close attention on social media.

Some fans are speculating about a possible romance between the lawyer and her famous client.

One TikTok video shows the actor looking at his lawyer and smiling as she talks. The phrase, ‘The way he looks at her,’ appears on the screen.

Another video, set to the romantic song ‘Wildest Dreams’ by Taylor Swift, shows Vasquez leaning over to listen to Depp as she clutches his hand in her palms.

‘Wanna be her so badly omg,’ one commenter wrote.

On Wednesday, Raquel Pennington, a former member of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s inner circle, denied allegations that Heard used makeup to fake the injuries she allegedly sustained at the hands of Depp.

‘That is a false assessment,’ she said. ‘I saw injuries on her body from the time directly after they happened through the night, the day after and until they healed.’

Pennington claimed, instead, that the Aquaman actor was using makeup to try and hide her injuries as she prepped for an appearance on James Corden’s ‘The Late Late Show’ in December 2015.

According to Pennington, Heard showed her makeup artist and hairstylist her busted lip, and her missing clump of hair.

Pennington added that she was worried about Heard’s ‘self preservation’ while living with Depp.
