PR – In a milestone achievement for Grenadian sport, the Senior Men’s National Football Team has been selected to participate in the FIFA Series 2026, marking the first time in history that Grenada will compete in this prestigious global football initiative and the first time Team Grenada will take the pitch on the African continent. The team will compete in Rwanda, where they are grouped alongside the host nation Rwanda, Kenya, and Estonia.
Grenada is among only a handful of Caribbean nations selected to participate, joining 47 other national teams from across all six FIFA confederations in a new format designed to expand global football development and visibility. The Series will take place during the March international window, with Grenada grouped alongside Rwanda, Kenya, and Estonia, hosted in Rwanda.
“This is not just an invitation to compete, it is a global affirmation of Grenada’s footballing
potential,” said Marlon Glean, President, GFA. “To be recognized on this stage is a direct result of the bold, strategic moves we have made to elevate our national program, from governance and development to player exposure and technical growth.”
Under the current GFA administration, the Senior Men’s National Team has experienced steady and measurable progress, highlighted by an expanded calendar of international friendly matches, strengthened technical frameworks, and growing global partnerships. In 2025, Grenada recorded an undefeated run of international friendly matches, resulting in a 10-place rise in the FIFA World Rankings a clear indicator of the team’s upward trajectory. This invitation by FIFA is therefore seen as a direct outcome of these sustained efforts and a strong validation of the GFA’s long-term strategic vision for national team development.
The FIFA Series is a recently expanded initiative that enables national teams of varied competitive levels to engage in meaningful, cross-confederation matches, promoting technical growth and global collaboration. All matches will be globally broadcast, offering unprecedented visibility for participating teams and fans alike.
Grenada’s inclusion underscores the strategic trajectory of the GFA under President Glean’s leadership and affirms FIFA’s commitment to fostering competitive opportunities for smaller Member Associations.
“This is a landmark moment for Grenadian football, one that will inspire a new generation of players and fans across the country,” said President Glean. “We thank FIFA for this opportunity and look forward to representing the Caribbean with pride and purpose.”
As Grenada continues preparations for the FIFA Series in Rwanda, this achievement serves as a powerful reminder that even nations with limited resources, but abundant talent and ambition can rise to the global stage.
