Comedian Majah Hype Jailed

(JAMAICA OBSERVER) – Well known comedian Majah Hype is listed as an inmate in a prison in Georgia, facing charges for simple battery and felony charges of making ‘terroristic threats and acts’.

He has been detained at the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office adult detention facilities in Georgia for the past four days.

According to the Cobb County Sheriff’s office, Hype, whose real name is Nigel Theron Joseph, was arrested and processed on February 19, 2023 and remains in custody without bond. It was not immediately clear if the charges were in relation to a domestic abuse incident.

In December, 2020, his ex-girlfriend Latisha Kirby Farrell made public accusations that he physically assaulted her. Majah Hype, mostly known for his skits of relatable characters on social media and his own BET Digital series, was then arrested in January 2021.

At that time, Hype was hit with two felony counts of kidnapping as well as terroristic threats and acts. He was also charged with simple battery, a misdemeanor offence. He was being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center in Canton, Georgia.
