Captain Matthews Leads WI Women To Victory Over Pakistan

(JAMAICA OBSERVER) – A magnificent 140 not out from captain Hayley Matthews led West Indies women to at 131-run victory over Pakistan women in the first one day international in Karachi on Thursday.

Matthews was supported by Shemaine Campbelle who scored 45 as the West Indies piled up 269 for 8 in their 50 overs.

When Pakistan batted, Matthews returned to take 3 for 17 in 6 overs as the West Indies bowled them out for 156.

Slow bowler Afy Fletcher supported with 2 for 19 while Zaida James finished with 2 for 14.

The second game in the three match series is scheduled for Saturday also in Karachi.
