PR – No longer would people using the Carriacou Botanical Gardens have to worry about the use of washroom facilities. That’s because work has commenced on the construction of a washroom and storeroom there.
The gardens, one of the few green spaces on the island, are managed by the Division of Agriculture within the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government.
During his parliamentary budget presentation in 2022, Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government, Hon Tevin Andrews, highlighted that the botanical gardens, which are located in Hillsborough, will be one of the areas that will be transformed for better use by residents.
The construction of the washroom facilities and storeroom is important for the gardens, which have been used for a number of social activities in recent times. The work will be done by TJ Construction Company Ltd.
One of the main activities held there is “Christmas in the Gardens” that includes the turning on of Christmas lights and decorations in the month of December leading into January. With this year’s Christmas activity now in the planning stages, individuals and groups interested in partnering with the Ministry for the event are invited to contact the Ministry.
