PR – The Grenada Football Association (GFA) launched the highly anticipated 2023/4 season with an electrifying Premier League match on Saturday June 17. Defending champions Hurricanes SC clashed with newly promoted Happy Hill FC in a gripping encounter that saw Hurricanes SC emerged victorious with a 3-1 win.
The match showcased exceptional talent and intense competition as both teams fought to make their mark in the opening game of the season. Ryan Alexander of Hurricanes SC displayed his prowess by scoring a brace in the 28th and 70th minutes while Moron Phillip added another goal in the 61st minute. Devonte Baptiste of Happy Hill FC managed to find the net in the 57th minute, providing a glimmer of hope for the newly promoted team.
Football enthusiasts from Victoria and surrounding areas thronged Alston George Park to witness the high energy encounter. The GFA’s decision to bring Premier League matches back to the community was met with immense enthusiasm from the local supporters, who showed up in large numbers to cheer on their favorite teams.

Parliamentary Representative for St. Mark, Dr. Clarice Modeste, Coordinator of Sports Kerlon Peters, and Mr. Alston George himself, a former national player and esteemed contributor to the sport, were present at the opening ceremony. GFA President Marlon Glean presented Mr. George with a special branded GFA sweatshirt and a voucher for a two-night stay, for two, at True Blue Bay Resort in recognition of his significant contributions.
The excitement continued on Sunday as more Premier League matches captivated football enthusiasts across the nation. St. John’s Sports and FC Camerhogne played to a 1-1 draw at Cuthbert Peters Park, while Paradise FC International secured a resounding 4-0 victory over Queen’s Park Rangers at Queen’s Park ground, with Keishon Clarke bagging a remarkable hattrick. Mt. Rich SC triumphed over newly promoted Sunsetters FC with a 4-2 win at Fond, and Sab Spartans defeated Hard Rock 3-1 in a thrilling encounter.
