(CMC) – Police are investigating the death of a member of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) who was shot on Monday by a colleague during an argument.
Media reports have identified the dead soldier as Tevon Daymon and said that the incident occurred at the GDF Camp Stephenson at Timehri, located 41 kilometres to the south of the capital.
Senior military officials say initial reports indicate that there was a disagreement between the two soldiers that led to a confrontation and a fight early Monday.
The media reports said that as Daymon ran from the area, the other officer armed himself with a high-powered weapon and opened fire, hitting Daymon multiple times.
He was later pronounced dead at hospital and the other soldier has since been arrested.
