PR – St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic School and Hillsborough Government will participate in the final of the 2023 NaDMA Disaster Primary Schools Quiz in Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
The quiz, which is part of the annual Disaster Awareness programme, involved preliminary round participation from all primary schools on the island.
The competition’s final will be held on May 31st on the grounds of the Emergency Operating Centre in Belair.
Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government Hon. Tevin Andrews and Minister for Mobilization, Implementation and Transformation Hon. Andy Williams along with other Government officials gave support to the quiz.
Community Programme Officer for Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Bernice Dates, said the quiz is to help raise awareness of disaster preparedness and management among students.
Meanwhile, the 2023 Disaster Week activities will commence on Sunday, June 4th, with a service at the Carriacou Evangelical Church.
Other activities include a clean-up campaign and a series of community meetings focusing on strengthening the shelter management committees.
