(JAMAICA OBSERVER) – Reggae singer Jah Cure will return to a Netherlands court for a pro forma hearing on January 24th.
The pro forma is a short formal/procedural matter lasting approximately 10-20 minutes to decide if the suspect should be kept in detention while awaiting trial. According to Dutch law, this decision is reviewed every 90 days.
In March 2022, Jah Cure, given name Siccature Alcock, was sentenced to six years for stabbing a show promoter over unpaid monies. The artiste, who was acquitted of attempted murder, has been incarcerated since October 2021.
“The pro forma hearing is scheduled from 11:10 to 11:20 hrs. The decision usually follows the same day,” Tuscha Essed, press officer of the public prosecution to the Court of Appeals said.
Following his six-year sentencing, Dutch prosecutors appealed to the court against the acquittal of the attempted murder charge.
Jah Cure is known for his hit songs Longing For (2005) and Love Is (2005). He will be releasing a new 11-track LP titled Undeniable via VP Records that will feature collaborations from up-and-coming Haitian artist Kalyan Arnold and Ghanaian Afropop star Stonebwoy.
This will be his ninth studio album.
The singer revealed the tracklist and cover art for the album last December and shared that all the songs would be love songs.
