PR – The Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Cooperatives extends season’s greetings and best wishes to citizens this Christmas Season. The Ministry takes this opportunity to remind the public that under the Praedial Larceny Act, all vendors of Agricultural Produce are expected to be registered.
As a result, the Ministry makes this appeal to consumers to be mindful when buying agricultural produce from unregistered vendors since, around this time, there is a higher level of stolen produce on the market, and many farmers usually suffer heavy losses during Christmas due to praedial larceny.
The Ministry is collaborating with the Royal Grenada Police Force to increase monitoring efforts; therefore, Vendors are asked to have their ID Cards on hand.
Additionally, we are appealing to the public to be vigilant and partner with the Police and the Ministry by reporting suspected incidences of praedial larceny, especially when known perpetrators are involved.
Refraining from purchasing agricultural produce from unregistered vendors helps support farmers and their families and the overall development of the sector.
Let us work together this Christmas Season to support our farmers and food producers by helping to reduce this ugly scourge of praedial larceny in our nation.
