(NEW YORK POST) – A 61-year-old woman was slashed to death and her 52-year-old boyfriend appeared to have jumped from their Brooklyn apartment in a likely murder-suicide Friday, cops and police sources said.
Cops responded to a 911 call from a neighbor concerned about “a commotion” inside a fourth-floor apartment on Sixth Avenue near 53rd Street in Sunset Park just after 2 a.m. when they discovered the woman’s body, authorities said.
The victim was lying in the hallway area with multiple cuts on her head, neck and upper torso, and pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, police said.
A bloody knife, hammer and screwdriver were discovered nearby, the sources said.
The man – who cops believe was her live-in boyfriend – was found “unconscious and unresponsive” on the ground outside the building, authorities said.
He too was pronounced dead at the scene, and cops believe he had jumped from the building.
A knife was recovered near the man.
While police preliminarily believe the incident was a murder-suicide, the investigation is ongoing, cops said.
Authorities have not officially identified the pair, pending family notification.
