(TT GUARDIAN) – Police suspect an altercation led to the murder of a 15-year-old schoolboy whose killer later dumped his body behind a pluck shop on Saturday night.
It was only yesterday afternoon that police went to an area behind the Classic Pluck Shop along Cipero Road, Golconda, where they found the body of Videsh Dookran, a Form Three student of the Ste Madeleine Secondary School.
An anonymous informant told officers at the Ste Madeleine Police Station that her 14-year-old and seven-year-old children were in company with Videsh and two brothers around 3 pm on Saturday. She refused to identify herself or her children. She said one of the brothers had a firearm and shot Videsh and they later dumped his body in an abandoned blue house at the back of the pluck shop. The informant refused to give further information.
PC Matloo and PC Balgobin left the police station to check out the information and found Videsh’s body lying motionless on its left side in a foetal position in an abandoned wooden blue house.
A team of detectives from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region III, including ASP Persad, Insp Rebeiro, Cpl Deo, WPC Mohammed and WPC La Rode, responded and began inquiries while crime scene investigators processed the scene.
District Medical Officer Dr Chamiah visited the scene and noted that the body had a gunshot wound to its chest. Undertakers took the body to the San Fernando General Hospital mortuary until a transfer to the Forensic Science Centre, St James, on Monday.
Videsh’s mother Devika Seebaran, 35, told investigators that her son left their home in Golconda around 2 pm on Saturday. He told Seebaran that he was going to visit a relative in the village but did not return home. Seebaran said she had not seen or heard from him since and he did not have a cell phone at the time.
