PR – A vital component to the reopening of hotels as the world adjusted to the pandemic shutdown – and who ultimately played a major role in the recovery of the tourism sector – were the housekeepers.
They were the ones on the frontlines for the implementation of safety protocols, and as we celebrated International Housekeepers’ Week from September 12th to 18th, Sandals Grenada alongside all Sandals resorts across the region, was extremely pleased to recognise and honour these unsung heroes.
The resort team at Sandals Grenada hosted a series of activities throughout the week, which began with a praise service last Sunday, followed by a road relay, special team meetings, special resort team luncheon, treasure hunt and culminated with an elegant evening gala event.
According to Operations Manager Jamie Charles, “We are turning the corner of the pandemic with a lot of new team members and their dedication and discipline to meet our standards of cleanliness for our 257 suites, general guest areas and team member areas, is vital to our product offering and for all our health and safety procedures. This juncture is the perfect time to express our gratitude and bring the team together in an extra special way.”
Longtime Sandals Grenada team member and Assistant Housekeeping Manager Anthonette Raymond was elated with the outpouring of love from her colleagues, “I’ve been with Sandals for many years and we have always celebrated outstanding team members with our monthly and annual Prestige Awards but to have the spotlight on my department has been incredible. The fact that other departments are celebrating us, and sharing what we mean to them has probably been the most heartwarming and motivating aspect of the week. On top of that, it’s just been fun, and I know this will certainly translate to improved synergy within the department and across the resort.”
Rounding off the high praise was General Manager, Peter Fraser, who added, “You are always there keeping guests comfortable and relaxed in a clean environment with all the special amenities that Sandals provides. You go the extra mile, adding your personal touches to the guests room experience- a special room setup to celebrate, a smile and warm greeting to make their day or a welcome back embrace. We salute you.”
