(CMC) – A police officer is due to re-appear in court on September 22, 2022, after he was released on EC$30,000 (One EC dollar=US$0.37 cents) bail on sexual-related charges.
Under section 38 of Dominica’s Sexual Offences Act of 1998, the media cannot disclose the name of the accused unless he is convicted at the High Court for the alleged offence.
But the police officer, appeared before the Roseau Magistrate Court on Monday, charged with three sex-related offences against a young adult woman. The charges were read to him but he was not required to enter a plea since the matter is an indictable offence.
The accused is to report to the Roseau Police Station twice weekly and must surrender all his travel documents. As part of his bail conditions, he is required to seek permission from the court 72 hours in advance, if he is to travel.
