PR – A showdown of huge proportions is expected to blow off on Monday January 03, 2022 when the West Indies Under-19s take on South Africa Under-19s, in the fourth and final Youth One Day International, at the Arnos Vale Cricket Grounds.
With South Africa taking a 2-1 Series lead on Thursday December 30, 2021, on a pitch that was very difficult for batting, the regional side was expected to push the South Africans on a very good wicket.
It was a hard-fought one wicket victory over the West Indies Under-19s by the South Africa Under-19s at the Cumberland Playing Field as no batsman again registered a commanding score.
On a pitch with uneven bounce, West Indies won the toss and decided to bat, and was dismissed for 107 in 38.3 overs. Shaqkere Parris top-scored with 27, Teddy Bishop made 26, and Giovonte Depeiza contributed 22.
Bowling for South Africa, Dewald Brevis took 3 for 16 from 3.3 overs, Hardus Coetzer 3 for 25 from 9 overs, and Liam Alder 2 for 23 from 10 overs.
In response South Africa Under-19 reached 113 for 9 in 18.3 overs, led by Ethan Cunningham with 25, and Liam Alder not out on 24.
Bowling for the West Indies Under-19, Onaje Amory took 4 for 04 from 4 overs, Mathew Nandu 2 for 02 from 3 overs, and Johann Layne 2 for 26.
The fourth and final Youth ODI is on Monday January 03, 2022 at the Arnos Vale Cricket Grounds.
