PR – Prime Minister, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, has been active in his constituency this week, encouraging workers employed with the de-bushing programme to get vaccinated and adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.
In a series of visits to teams in various parts of St. George North West, Dr. Mitchell spoke to workers about the benefits of being vaccinated, encouraging them to see the value in protecting their lives and that of loved ones.
He also underscored the need for continued adherence to the protocols to curb the spread of the virus.
Dr. Mitchell said, “The COVID-19 situation has improved significantly over the past few weeks and I can’t stress enough the importance of ensuring that the numbers keep declining. We have experienced significant loss of life and many workers have been put on the breadline, therefore, in addition to the measures being taken by Government, we must accept our individual responsibility to help the situation improve further.”
He added, “I am able to recommend vaccination to you because I have done myself. I want to see us all protected. I grasped the first opportunity to be fully-vaccinated, my mom who will soon be 99-years old, is also fully vaccinated. The experts have told us and the statistics prove it, vaccination helps, it reduces the risk of serious disease, hospitalisation and death. It is our best option for protection against COVID-19.”
The de-bushing programme resumed this week after being put on hold for several weeks due to the spike in COVID.
