NHC Continues To Monitor Tropical Wave

(LOOP NEWS CARIBBEAN) – A broad area of low pressure continues to have the attention of the US National Hurricane Centre (NHC).

The tropical wave is located a few hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles and it continues to produce a large area of disorganised showers and thunderstorms, mainly to the east of its centre.

NHC said the system will be impacted by strong upper-level winds and this will inhibit significant development while the system moves west-north-westward over the next couple of days.

It has a low (10 percent) chance of formation during the next 48 hours and five days.

NHC has forecast that the system will bring heavy rainfall across portions of the central and northern Lesser Antilles today, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Thursday and Hispaniola on Friday.
