PR – At 11:00 am, the center of tropical strom Gonzalo was located near latitude 9.9 north, longitude 48.3 west, approximately 803 NM east southeast of Grenada.
Gonzalo is moving towards the west near 14 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 KM/H) with higher gusts. The estimated minimum central pressure is 997 Mb (29.44 inches)
Some strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Gonzalo could become a hurricane tonight or on Friday. A westward to west-northwestward motion with an increase in forward speed is expected through the weekend. On the forecast track, the center of Gonzalo will approach the southtern winward islands Friday night and move across the islands on Saturday evening.
Tropical Strom Gonzalo is expected to bring cloudy and windy conditions with moderate to heavy showers and thundershowers to Grenada by Saturday morning into afternoon with possible flooding and landslides in areas so prone.
The meteorological office will continue to monitor Gonazalo and its development and provide updates as deemed necessary in a timely manner.
