Three Senior Medical Officials Infected With Coronavirus In Guadeloupe; Positive Cases Now 62

(St Lucia News Online) – Three senior medical officials who are on the frontline of battling the coronavirus outbreak in Guadeloupe have been infected as positive cases jumped to 62 on Monday.

In a press release, the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) de la Guadeloupe said its director general, the president of the Medical Commission of the Establishment and the head of the resuscitation department had all tested positive for the virus.

The release said their state of health is not of concern at this time.

“This situation does not affect the normal functioning of the governance of the CHU,” it said.

Meanwhile, Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS) released new figures for Guadeloupe on Monday.

The reports shows there are 62 confirmed cases on the island with 18 patients in hospital.

Six are in intensive care.
