St. George’s, Grenada- Reggae artiste and producer Colin Harper, popularly known as Collie Buddz, has sustained a double head concussion due to an accident while in his homeland of Bermuda resulting in his inability to fly to Grenada for his upcoming performance at Sunshine Promotions’ Ah December to Remember.
The management and team of Buddz confirmed with Ian St. Bernard, Managing Director, Sunshine Promotions on Thursday, December 19 that medical professionals have deemed Buddz unfit to fly following a head injury sustained while in Bermuda. (See e-mail correspondence attached)
The 35-year-old recording artiste will remain under the close observation of his medical team as they continue to monitor his condition in the hope of a full recovery. Buddz is devastated that he will not be able to perform for the first time in the spice isle, as he and his band were set to arrive on Friday, December 20 after a two-day journey to Grenada.
The management team of Collie Buddz has issued a statement and will also follow with a video
recording to be disseminated during the course of the day expressing their disappointment to the patrons of Ah December to Remember and will provide an update on the status of the artiste. The Sunshine Promotions team is hopeful that Buddz will have a full recovery and return to the stage as soon as he is medically cleared to do so. St. Bernard shared his thoughts on the unfortunate circumstance and expresses best wishes to the family and friends of Buddz. “This is a terrible situation, but it was an unforeseen accident that no one anticipated. Undoubtedly, the well-being of the artiste at this time is of paramount importance and we wish him a speedy recovery,” St. Bernard shared.
Sunshine Promotions anticipates and understands the disappoint of fans and patrons of Ah December to Remember but ensures the Grenadian public that the show will proceed as scheduled. Upon receiving the news, the promotion company has been working assiduously to secure a replacement act to perform in place of Buddz and his band.
“This is one of the busiest times of the year for entertainers and the airlines making it particularly challenging for us. However, we are pleased to announce that Christopher Martin, renowned reggae artiste and friend to Sunshine Promotions has offered to fly to Grenada with his five-man live band to perform at Ah December to Remember in place of Buddz,” St. Bernard further shared.
Martin and his management will arrive in Grenada today, Friday, December 20 and his band members will arrive on Saturday, December 21 in time for their performance at the live concert set to take place later Saturday evening. The Sunshine Promotions team is extremely grateful to Martin and his management for their gesture and look forward to delivering a three-band concert as promised.
Additionally, the event will feature Trinidadian soca act, Kes The Band and Grenadian recording artiste V’ghn with his live band including Boyzie, Lednek and Lavaman.
Sunshine Promotions anticipates and appreciates the understanding of Grenadians and visitors attending the December to Remember event as the promotion company has an impeccable record for delivering on their promise over its twenty plus years in operation.
