Trinidad: Arima School Teacher Shot Dead, Left Roadside

trinidadexpress.com- A 53-year-old school teacher was found shot to death in Cumuto this morning.

Reports state that around 11 p.m. yesterday, residents reported hearing the sound of gunfire at Bramble Trace.

However, it was not until this morning that the body of Garfield Gaye, of Arima, was discovered in a bushy area off the side of the roadway, police said.

His body was slumped over a discarded tyre.

Police said Gaye was a standard five teacher and well loved in his hometown by both pupils and parents.

His killing has taken the country’s murder toll for the year so far to 393.

Officers of the Region 3 Homicide Bureau of Investigations are continuing enquiries.
