All Workers To Report To Work At River Antoine Estate After GTUC Successfully Intervenes In Impasse

The Grenada Trades’ Union Council this afternoon Friday, March 15, 2019, held a successful meeting with the Management of River Antoine Estate to resolve an Industrial related Impasse between the Company and the workers represented by the Grenada Maritime, Manual and Intellectual Workers’ Union (GMMIWU).

Following what appears to be an apparent misunderstanding, several workers were asked not to report to work over the past week, by Management. The workers met with the GTUC and sought its intervention in the matter. The GTUC established contact with the GMMIWU and subsequently met with the Management of the Estate.

A discussion was held with the GTUC and the Company. The Management of River Antoine Estate was represented by its General Manager/Owner Ms. Shirley Richards and its Marketing Advisor Mr. Simon Green. The Grenada Trades’ Union Council was represented by its President Bro André Lewis and GTUC member Bro. Trevor Xavier.

It was agreed that all the workers will report to work as of Monday March 18, 2019. A joint meeting will be held during next week between the Management, workers, GMMIWU and the GTUC to address matters of general concern.

The Grenada Trades’ Union Council takes this opportunity to thank the Management of River Antoine Estate for the understanding demonstrated.
