St. Lucia – Thevoiceslu.com – The new years celebrations in the city of Castries were interrupted by sounds of ambulance and fire sirens.
Fire and rescue personnel from St. Lucia Fire Services were called to extinguish a blaze un the community of Castries in the wee hours of New Years Morning.
Initial reports indicated that approximately eight dwelling homes in the community of Rose Hill were destroyed due to the early morning blaze.
According to an eyewitness, emergency vehicles experienced difficulties reaching the burning buildings due to the size of the road.
The severity of the damage and loss of lives are not yet confirmed by police. An investigation into the cause of the fire has begun.
