GEORGE’S, GRENADA, SEPTEMBER 24, 2018, MEGAFORCE PROMOTIONS: It is with a sense of deep regret, that after consultation, deliberation and careful consideration, unfortunately Megaforce Promotions would not be hosting its annual Waggy T Super Knockout Football Tournament, this year.
Whereas 2018 would have marked our tournament’s 10th year “a notable milestone achievement”, we had no choice but to forego the staging of the tournament and as such we are very truly sorry.
It is important to note and state clearly that our decision was forced, after several failed attempts to get an audience with the local football governing body, the Grenada Football Association, GFA to discuss our plans.
Sadly only last week, we finally met with the Executive and they voted in our favour, which was to grant us permission to stage the tournament; a decision for which we are grateful.
It must also be stated for the record that since 2009, our tournament often runs from October to December each year.
With such being the case and to be fair to the GFA, they have since given us permission to move forward with our tournament but despite doing so they have since advertised the “GFA Cup”, a new tournament which was scheduled to begin on September 19th and climax on December 26th 2018.
With less than a month before the planned start of the Tournament, it is extremely difficult to proceed so therefore, in order to maintain the professional and ethical standards, of which our tournament is known for, we felt it was in the best interest of our current and potential sponsors, teams, clubs, organizations, and football lovers throughout Grenada and the region not to sacrifice the proficient and moral standards, of the “Waggy T Super Knockout Football Tournament”.
In closing Megaforce Promotions, expresses its sincerest thanks to all those who in one way or another supported our tournament for the last 9 years. However, we pledge our unwavering support to GFA and football in Grenada and sincerely look forward to hosting the 10th edition of the tournament in 2019.
