Holder accused of causing son’s death by dangerous driving

The mother of the late Abijah Holder-Phillips has been charged with causing his death by dangerous driving.

Felisha Osula Holder, 33, of Hopefield, Christ Church, appeared before Oistins Magistrate Elwood Watts this afternoon, but was not required to plead to the June 26, 2015 offence as it allegedly occurred in the District ‘B’ jurisdiction.

She was ordered to appear before that magistrates’ court on March 19 after she was granted $7,500 bail with one surety.

Eleven-year-old Abijah was his way home from his school graduation when he lost his life around 4:15p.m. His mother was at the wheel of the motorcar in which he was travelling when it struck a sign post and ended up on its side along the Adams section of the ABC Highway, at the entrance of the Villages at Coverley.

He died on the spot while Abijah’s 13-year-old sister Ibrel, who was also in the vehicle, suffered a broken left leg.

The three were removed from the motorcar with the assistance of the Barbados Fire Service. (FW)
