A GRENADIAN man who entered Trinidad illegally using a tampered passport was charged yesterday with five counts of sexual penetration of a 15-year-old school girl.
The rape acts took place during a two-year period and the suspect was charged by Constable Burton of the Western Division Child Protection Unit.
According to reports, the schoolgirl met the suspect while travelling to school in West Trinidad and was lured to several places in the St James district where she had sexual intercourse with the 23-year-old man. The girl kept the affair a secret because she was told by the man that if her parents knew, he could be charged.
Relatives learnt of the illicit relationship and the teen was interviewed by officers of the Child Protection Unit. She confessed to being with the suspect and was taken to a District Medical Officer where she was medically examined.
The suspect was detained over the weekend. He is also expected to be charged with having a tampered passport.
